cover ART

Sacrilege were the band that helped define a new genre of music melding fast paced angry punk sounds with a heavier metallic blitzkreig. One of the first cross over bands of the 80's that later influenced so many others, i am proud to have been part of this scene and prouder to have been able to produce the art for their debut 12" It wasn't originally done in colour then mono-toned, I did this in water based paint using only black. Turned it to negative using film then using freehand and letraset made a knock-out for the text. This was 1984-85

found this clip on the internet - an old friend of mine back in Sydney, Jane displaying her punk jacket that i painted around 1981. On these i used shoe repair paint, these were bought from shoe shops in tiny bottles and spray cans, but on leather jackets lasted forever!!
it can be seen at the Sydney Powerhouse Museum in a display of tribal culture!

THIS IS ME

I began this blog just as an outlet to show off my work
my paintings are recent (2011 on) though i did used to paint leather
jackets in my youth, mainly when i was living in Australia
with my parents around 1980-81

These recent works are done on canvas with acrylics, which i prefer as it dries
quicker than oils but has the same finished look. I've noticed as i go on they do
get larger, must be a confidence thing!!
